Pascal Smet

Head of the list - Brussels Parliament

priority #1:

We need to speed up the shift from being a city for cars to being a city for people, moving quicker and further! Structures must also be simplified, have fewer political staff whilst being more responsible and by allowing a more direct democracy that enables citizens to take part in it.

Pascal Smet is the Minister for Mobility and Public Works in the Brussels Government. He is looking to make Brussels a city where cyclists and pedestrians have plenty of space. His achievements include the Noctis night bus service, Collecto shared taxis and his role kickstarting the move towards a ban on cars on Place Flagey, Place Rogier, Chaussée d Ixelles, Place Dumon, Place du Miroir and the major boulevards in the city centre. During his time in government, the number of cyclists in the city has doubled and numbers of public transport users have reached record levels. He is also proud of being the owner of Edgar, his four-legged companion. At the weekend, you’ll find him enjoying an ice cream or a waffle at Chez Gaston or supping a glass of something on Bar Béton’s terrasse.
